WIX in Visual Studio – can I edit wixproj file settings?

I've inherited a WIX installer project. I have installed the WIX VS2019 extension and tools.

When I view the code of the .wixproj file in notepad I can see useful settings such as:

<Configuration Condition=" '$(Configuration)' == '' ">Debug</Configuration>
<Platform Condition=" '$(Platform)' == '' ">x86</Platform>
<Version Condition=" '$(BuildNumber)' == '' ">2.0.1</Version>
<Version Condition=" '$(BuildNumber)' != '' ">$(BuildNumber)</Version>

but if I view the property pages of the wix project in VS2019 (or the properties for the file under the F4 key) I dont see any values like this.

  • Am I suppose to be able to edit the values of the .wixproj file in VS?
  • Where is it picking up "buildnumber = 2.0.1" from; Has someone hardcoded it?
