an R function not replace previous results but to add to it

I perform statistical tests to validate the effects of candidate genes over some cardiac parameters using two way ANOVA test. My input file has data of 7 different genes, in order to test each gene separately and compare to its corresponding control, I created a Pop-up box to choose which gene I want to test and in the end I have a summary table of the two way ANOVA results for each cardiac phenotype. My problem is that when I choose the next gene to test, the previous summary table contents gets deleted and replaced by the new results, I need a way for the code to not replace the summary table contents but add to it if it is not empty.

I use this command line to save my summary table """ wb <- write.xlsx(sum, file = "summary_table.xlsx")

""" Thank you!
